Hey Krebsie - Call me quick - we need a better strategy! These guys and gals have me a bit worried. Only one smallie last week in the Wildcat and a couple of those silver, big eyed fish. That won't cut it. There is a Friday morning creek scouting trip planned, for sure. Just call me "Knee-deep." Don

These stories just keep getting better! I can't wait to see how this whole thing works out. It should be a great day! Awards are ready to be handed to the best team and the person who catches the largest fish for each category. Remember, measure everything. You may only take your top 5 longest bass, 25 bluegill, sunfish or crappie in aggregate, and only 10 carp and catfish in aggregate. per person. Good Luck to all of the teams! Carp minnows or sucker minnows don't count.

Hey Phinder!
Why don't you grab a partner and come fish for awhile! Or come to the cookout! Should be fun! I enjoy the people every bit as much as the fishing. C'mon!

That goes for ALL the members!

Don: are the fish you mentioned goldeyes? fieldguide.mt.gov/detail_AFCGA01010.aspxI've never caught one in the Wildcat, but I caught one in Deer Creek once. I didn't know what it was and thought it might have been a silver carp. I emailed the DNR and they correctly identified it as a goldeye.

Hi Trent, Yes, that is what is was. I usually find them residing in deep holes in the Wildcat. Most are about 9-12 inches. The last one I had was about 16" and put up a nice little fight. Thanks for the clarification.
Now I just hope that goldeyes can be used in the aggregate numbers! Gar, too. I'll take pictures and let Dustin decide...

Don- I would think goldeyes would be lumped into the catfish/carp category. The one I caught put up just as good of a fight as a smallie of the same size. The one I caught hit a red popper so I figured it was attracted to the bright color. Turns out they are color blind, so go figure. Which of the local streams have gar? I'm guessing the Wabash, but are they in the Tippy and Wildcat too? You probably don't want to hook up with one of these: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alligator_gar

Was that an ant made out of Krebsie's shelf lining material?
I think the gar was caught on an earlier variant of the dubceiver was it not?
I could have sworn Dustin was wearing a sweet bowler hat when that was caught!

I will allow goldeneye, Skipjack Herring, mooneye shad, gar and anything else recognized in the Indiana fishing regulations to be considered in the "other category. No more than 10 fish, singly or in aggregate.
There are longnose gar in nearly every creek or river in Indiana. Dad and I saw a huge one today on the Tippy. Alligator gar only inhabit waters of the deep south, most commonly found in Texas and Florida.
Apparently, catching that gar gave me a big head, and sucked a lot of meat from my bones. Time to hit the weight room and the all-U-Can Eat buffets.
