RF- I agree with you. However people have cleaned out certain part of there inventory. It is sort of amazing what a 10% will do for folks. They had several trolling motors on Monday.

BTW 30% off fly tying stuff as of Friday 3-27
Rods were still only 10%
They still had one paddle boat there and a belly boat. Things are starting to get pretty picked through on the regular fishing stuff.
Some of their flies were gone as well. i did talk to a gentleman that was looking at a fly tying kit and gave him some advice. He seemed interested in stopping by for the April tying.

The float tube looked pretty good for $75.00. Already have one. Thanks for the input I think I will run in today.

Pat brought this to my attention this evening...
The warehouse supposedly got in a couple boxes of tying stuff from another store that is closing. They basically have just set the boxes out (maybe someone will stock them, who knows), but they have a bunch of grizzly saddles - a couple of natural but a bunch of dyed ones, a whole slew of Ewing brand hackle (if anyone is familiar with that), olive bucktail and gray (shad) bucktail, a variety of turkey feathers and pheasant tail feather, and then various odds and ends like foam and wing material, etc. There are also a bunch of grizzly and brown Metz necks, #2 and #3, so if you are looking for a neck, shoot on out there. I tried to put things in little piles as I was going through it just to make sure I saw everything there was.
Fly tying stuff is 60% off.

I stopped by there Saturday after the Boy Scout stuff and I had to sort through the boxes of stuff. By the time I left thay were actually putting it on the display shelf. At that point in time the flytying stuff was in two different spots. One small selection was near the knives. The other sections was past the clothes and it was much larger. The grizzly capes are $8 afer the discount. I picked up three and they had several left.
Hooks are pretty much gone. They still had tippet material left as well as a bunch of buck tails.

Much to the wife's chagrin, I also made a stop there on Saturday (this was separate from the Friday night stop). They had a bunch of different hair on one of the racks that must have come from the other store. I didn't even see that on Friday, but that is in the area closer to the front of the store by some of the spin stuff.
I'm just hoping my marriage can survive these last days before that bloody store closes for good and releases me from its tempting 60% off grip!

I got two pack plus the container for the normal price of just the pack. I think they had a few packs left, but I think i bought the last container.

Regarding the paddle boat you might ask if it is still 10%. I bought one of the canoes that still was marked at 10% after I asked and found out it was at a 30% discount. never hurts to ask. Also trout guys flies are at $00.40 each I can't make them that cheap and I can't see to make #16 and smaller any more. Even if they are not the highest quality flies thats better than $2.50 and up at some remote mountain fly shop. Happy shopping Barryl

Barryl:
I'm hoping they will knock another 10% (20% would be better) off the flies. I intend to buy up some dries as well. They haven't really been flying off the shelf there. I'm more interested in tying the bigger flies anyway, so I'm hoping to be set for a while on dries when it is all said and done.
I certainly can't think of any place where you could buy them for $0.40 (without buying 2000 in bulk from Bulgaria or something).

Quick note SW still has vices in stock and on sale. I am not sure they are 60% off or not. They are where the knives used to be.

If we can get a good deal on vises for the club to have on hand we should. I am willing to pledge $25.00 toward the cause, anyone willing to match my offer or donate what you can? We need to act fast.

I would be willing to match Barry.
I don't know what they have or what kind of money we are talking about. Does it make more sense to get a couple of decent vices vs. going with more of something less expensive?

I was in there yesterday and I did notice the bulk of the vises were the Griffin Mongoose. This is the vise I use and it's a $200 vise. At 50% off that is still $100, a bit much to spend on a loaner.
They do have others but I have no idea on how much they are.
Another thing to consider are the other tools required. At the very least you need a decent pair of scissors and a bobbin. It didn't see any bobbins or scissors but you can at least get scissors at Hobby Lobby.

Just stopped by SW they have about 8 vises left didn't have enough time to wait and ask the very busy sales people if they were discounted from price marked or if prices marked were all ready discounted there are some possibilities. As far as bobbins go I am going to be in Michigan City on Sat. I could stop at Bass Pro and see if they have Some cheap ones. Also the next tying meeting that I am able to attend (not this next one) I will bring my paper cutter for anyone who wants to cut foam or rubber strips.

I would chip in $25.
I went on-line and Hook & Hackle offers a "Professional Fly Tying Kit" for under $40 - and that includes tools and a "AA" vise and I think they have a cheaper set than that. Barryl - maybe you could check and see what Bass Pro Shops have when you're there this weekend?
I don't know (and don't have time to check now) what Cabela's and other fly fishing gear distributors might have that would compare.
Pat Rick - A Mongoose vise for $100 is hard to pass up though. If I hadn't just purchased a Renzetti, I would get one myself! Those are quality vises and might well stand up to being a "loaner" better than an inexpensive one. Of course, it would be an easier hit for the club to take if the loaners don't happen to make it back.
