What do you expect when you take religion out of the classroom? It is freedom of speech to burn the flag. Etc, etc. A lot of kids have no morals or respect or very little. It seems some parents are too busy to spend time with their kids. I don’t understand. Our kids are part of us and, on top of that, my daughters keep reminding me they’re the ones who will choose our nursing home. That is food for thought. Isn’t it?

While I am glad that you all want to discuss the social problems of day, but this thread is to discuss Sportsman's Warehouse closing. Please move the conversation back that direction. If you want to discuss the problems of the day please start a new thread.
Thanks. Les

You got it Les. Went twice this past Friday...Copped two pair of sunglasses with readers in them for a fair price and a handfull of hard baits. No fly tying stuff as I'm about 'geared' out. Waiting for that paddleboat to come down from 389. My wife wants it really bad but not for 389. If any of you see it for less, gimme a shout and I'll pick it up for the lake. I think their exiting inventory will be great dimished by this coming weekend. They're pretty busy.

Since the closing of Sportsman's effects our monthly fly tyng, I spoke to Bill, the gentleman handling the liquadition on Saturday.
He said has long as they are open we can still have our monthly tying sessions. This gives us another month to figure out where to move them to.
While I was there I did pickup some peacock chenile and some spinnerbaits. May go back today.

I was there on Saturday as well. Rick, I heard you were there, but didn't actually see you. I think the spin stuff will sell pretty quickly along with camo/blaze/bow/turkey/deer related stuff. The fly stuff was definitely not moving during the time I was there, either on Saturday or Friday lunch. I sort of did a walk through and found a few things that if they are still there after the discounts get a little deeper, I might pick up. I might pick up a few tying things the next time they change the prices, but I'm thinking that if I can be patient, some things will get a lot cheaper before they sell out of them. That's my strategy, anyway. Now, if I could just find where I left that pile of disposable cash.

rf we might have to have a bare knuckle boxing match for the paddle boat. I would love to have something i can throw in the back of my truck and fish ponds out of. I know a pontoon might be easier, but the paddle boat can hold two i think.

Quick update:
I ran out to the Warehouse at lunch thinking that after the weekend they might have bumped up the discounts.
Everything was the same, discount wise. It didn't look like there had been much of a run on tying stuff. Most of the small hackle packets are gone and there are empty hooks in the chenille area, but that was about it.

Oh wow....I had no idea SW was closing! I love that store! I first went into a SW several years ago when I was in Anchorage, AK. I went in just to check it out and fell in love with it. I remember saying...why can't we have a store like this in Indiana!!!! amazingly enough i heard one was opening in Lafayette. I have been coming up to that store once a month since it opened. I do alot of skeet shooting and they always had the best prices on shells. Oh well....that is a sign of things to come. I fear fly shops have not yet seen the worst of it. TH~

RF:
You realize, of course, that there are in fact two (2) paddleboats. One is a two seater and the other is a 4 seater. The four seater is a little more money, but maybe you can reach an amiable agreement with Les and not have to resort to digit violence to resolve the dispute.
TH:
I suspect that there will be some exceptional deals to be had in the women's fishing area if you are patient. There just aren't that many fly fisherwomen in this area and so I suspect they will have to seriously discount some of those things for them to move. I'll keep my eyes peeled.
My wife will fish if all the stars are aligned and someone is standing next to her tying on the flies. If things get cheap enough, I may pick up a fishing shirt for her.
As for skeet shooting, I threw out the idea recently of doing a "cast and blast" kind of deal - basically combining a day of some fishing and some target shooting. Is that anything RW-RM has tried? Might it be something that would be a good joint venture?

Tress, There were lots of shells there on Sunday. RF and Les. I might buy the boat also and then see which of you two will give me the highest bid.

Well I was there Monday and the soft baits are getting picked through. Rooster tails are all but gone. Mepps and Rapala are still in stock. Regular fishing line is all bu gone. The fly tying stuff has been pretty much untouched. Lots of rods and rod cases were left. Most of the fishing clothing was still there.
I went into some of the other areas as well. They had a decent assotment of tents and life jackets up stairs. Only had a few metal and platic canoe paddles left. Plenty of wooden ones though.
I plan on swing by tonight before the board meeting to see if prices have lowered.
RF I found something that is going to work better for me than the paddle boat. However, they only have one left and I am gambling that they will lower th eprices and it will still be there. So we will have to go back to our corners for the time being.

Les, like you I stopped in last night @8:15 and both paddleboats were out but only dropped 10%...not nearly enough to allow me to buy one. So both are safe from me for right now. If they drop 30-40% I'll grab one but not until. I did buy some more hard baits and rapalas at 20% are starting to get resonable. If they drop further I'll pick up half a dozen. They seem to still be pretty proud of their inventory at present...

I am looking at the outriggers for a canoe. They are much cheaper then the paddle boat when you already have the canoe. Original price is $200. I was thinking of making something like this, but I figure I might get a good price on this.
