I'm curious, what kind of hair do you use for the mustache and beard? Does it make a difference on the lady fish?

Actually I get great strikes from females on their beds...reaction strikes protecting their spawn from those things! I don't blame them really. I tie with muskrat hair and finely trim with a razor blade. Can't trim too close as I'm frequently ripping off your upper lip. I fish those and the males attack them... I tie on the ballcap with furry foam. They'll hit them harder if I put a Rapala logo on the little ballcaps... rf

RF, Do you think that if you used something ridged for the ears use would see some more action as it goes through the water. If it would be bendable you could adjust the action. Ears out, more wobble.

Yeah, this is a serious forum, so remember, don't forget your favorite flies to trade with club members! We're eating at Cracker Barrel this year, meeting at 7:00 am. Don't be late! As usual, dad and I are spending the night in Terre Haute on Friday, to get some good rest for Sat. For cheap lodging, I suggest the Econo-Logde on US 41.

Sleeping in the back seat of your car is even more of a money saver. Just be sure to park where it is lit. Maybe the lot at the Cracker Barrel.

Are you making fun of me? I'm not above sleeping in my car, I have done that many times in College. Nowadays, I'm slightly more sophisticated. But just.

How is the bank fishing? The wife and I are talking about coming, but the truck is down, so we will have no vesssel of any type to bring.

The bank fishing isn't bad. You can walk half way around the large pond and there is a wide open area around part of the second pond with lots of space behind you. The only question is, how far out will the weeds be growing? It can get pretty weedy, but there should be some open spaces where the bluegill are spawning. There is a nice park there and some trails and shady sitting areas. I would recommend it.

Well, Unfortunately, we've run into a little problem, (maybe), on Saturday. It appears that there is a Terre Haute Triathlon on Saturday MAy 30 at Hawthorn Park. Fortunately, the pond that we fish is near Hawthorne Park, but not in the park exactly. However, it may not be very peaceful along the bank. I just received this information today, so I apologize for not realizing this earlier. We are still going to plan on fishing there, we will just have to see what kind of crowd there will be. If it is too crowded, then we will go to Chinook State Fishing Area located just 6 miles east of Hawthorn Park on S.R. 42. From US 40, take Hunt Street south to S.R. 42. Turn left or East on to U.S. 42 and follow that road until you reach N. Cory Stuanton Road. Turn north or left onto N. Cory Staunton Rd and follow the signs. There are 6 strip pits there with boat ramps, and lots of good shore access. This place actually looks better than Hawthorn park from the satellite image. Very Nice! Again I apologize for not realizing this earlier. Some things are just beyond our control. Les, Chinook State Fishing Area has very good shoreline access. Looks like a lot of fun to me.

Now wait a minute Teach. Maybe this would be a great time for Les to start out that little one in running. You know these days kids are starting out younger and younger. Never to young to learn. One step at a time. So Les if the fishing doesn't work out make sure you have your running shoes. Does the other park have bank fishing. I wasn't planning on bringing my float tube because I will be with a new member that joined after the casting clinic.

Phishphinder, I modified my last post after doing more research and finding Chinook State Fishing Area. That is where we will go, if Hawthorn is too crowded. Directions are in the post. It is a very easy drive from Hawthorn park. There is Great shoreline access for bank anglers. From the satellite image it looks really nice. If we have to go there, I hope there are a few fish... I also put the directions on the Calendar.
