Yesterday, 7-5-09, I had to travel to Indy to get new tires for my car. After completing that chore, I fished the White River in Indianapolis below an over spill dam near broad ripple. I used several flies with no success until I tied on the reelfoot special. More or less, its a weighted olive wooly bugger with a charteuse tail. I caught 7 crappies and 2, 8" smallmouth bass. It was really fun. The water was fairly clear for the white river, but I think the chartruese tail helped the fish see the fly better. This area recieves a fair amount of fishing pressure, but yesterday I was the only one fishing below the dam. It was nice to be on the water.
