Spent some time on Deer Creek today. Water has some stain still but it's improving and it's very wad-able. Caught a few small mouth but nothing of any size. Going to try upstream from Delphi tomorrow.

Barryl;
Glad you were into fish. Hopefully, by next week the water will start to get lower/clearer. I fished the Wildcat a couple days ago and the water was high/muddy but (barely) wadeable - didn't move a fish. Still, felt good to get out.

Stepped into Deer Creek from what I believe to be the NICHES access by the rebuilt iron bridge (looks great good work to all involved in that project). Fished up stream this is the first time on this stretch since floods of 2008 river has changed a lot. Picked up a few small smallmouths and rock bass but a wade worth doing if just for the scenery.

Good to hear this Barry, I used to fish Deer Creek quite a bit when I lived in Lafayette. I don't get up that way much anymore. I may have to check it out though. I was always able to catch a few smallmouth from that stream. There are some very nice fish in that creek if you can find them. Give me a shout if you're headed that way again and I may join you.

Have always wanted to fish Deer Creek. Give me a shout, if nothing is going on I'd be glad to give it try.

My experience with Deer Creek is that it will be fishable when the Wildcat is still blown out.
Barry, I've fished at the NICHES site there as well a few times (unless there are multiple properties there). Do you have to hike in and down a long sloping hill to get to the water?
It is really pretty in there and usually not crowded. I've seen kayakers through there and I think one time there may have been a couple of other fishermen, but usually I've had the place to myself.

If you park on the road there is a long slope I have four wheel drive so I'm able to drive down and there seems to be plenty of parking at the bottom. I'm not sure a car would have the ground clearance but the path is not to bad. It would be hard to get up if it was wet. As I said I think this is NICHES site I didn't see any signs. On Sunday there was one family enjoying the river and a few people stopping to look out over the bridge that was all. I think I'll get on NICHES site and try to pin this down better don't what to mislead anyone or trespass.

Hmmm...the site I've fished doesn't have a road you drive down. There is a road, but access is walk-in only from what I can tell.
The place I'm talking about you have to drive through Delphi before you turn off 25 assuming you are coming from Lafayette. Are you fishing at a spot right before you get to Delphi?

OK you are at High Bridge trestle. I'm going upstream further, I been checking with some people I know in the area and where I accessed it is private land I'm going to check with the owner about future access. And you are right , haven't had much luck in that section either. Another access that I have fished in the past I think is 400w. off 218 between Delphi and Camden. The land owner on the N.W. side of the bridge doesn't mind as long as you don't block his path down to his camp site.
