Hello TFFers, Krebs and I met late today and waded downstream in Wea creek off 25. This was Ray and Gary's cheater hole on tournament day! I asked for permission to fish at the horse farm and talked to a woman who had no objections. This was my first time fishing with Gary and I had a great time. As an added bonus we caught several smallies. This is a great little creek to wade. Look in the member section in fishing buddies for a trip idea Dustin and I came up with for next Friday and Saturday. Gary picked up this huge dragon fly that was fluttering in the water. He just hung out is his hand for a while then flew off. It reminded me of the bug from the movie caveman.

John: what's that little minnow in your hand? Now that I've seen "the beast" in your hand, you've set a high standard for your glory shots. Did you eat your spinach before you went fishing? What I want to know is how you found such an understanding wife? You fished on Saturday, fished on Sunday, are planning to camp/fish this coming weekend...what gives??? Gary looks like a happy camper as well! T-

I have set the bar high haven't I. I can't wait to go back to that spot on the Wildcat to fish those logs again. But I read something about bass remembering a lure 80% of the time after getting stung by one.
I love spinach! Its my favorite veggy.
My wife and I got married two years ago and think of it as two single people set in there ways that got married and live together. She's awesome. She says at least I'm not out drinking and gambling. Also, we don't have children.
I actually met a friend at Eagle Creek reservoir yesterday morning and fished out of the canoe. It was tough fishing and I caught one small largemouth. When we decided to cross the lake it was deadliest catch. There were white caps on the water and the canoe almost rolled over once. I kept thinking I need a bigger boat. I still had the itch to fish so I sent Gary a text and we got together.
What are you doing for the holiday weekend? Lets head up to the Tippecanoe River State Park. I actually just called the campground and they are completely full so camping in the park is out. I may go up just for Saturday.
I'll send you my info in a pm. Lets go fishing sometime.
John

As for getting back to the same spot, I never seem to be able to get lightning to strike twice. I'll frequently find fish in the same likely areas, but it usually will be on different flies and smaller fish (if I'm chasing a big one I've found before). Sounds like you and your wife get along well. I think Heather would sometimes prefer if I was into gambling and drinking. At least then it would be a break from talking about fishing, going fishing, planning to go fishing, or tying flies! Plus, we could find a baby sitter and go drink and gamble together. She's a bit like my mother-in-law in that the stars and phase of the moon and temperature and barometric pressure all have to line up perfectly for her to fish. Then she'll have you stand there (usually Pat fills this role nicely) and tie her flies on for her and tell her where to cast. Then when she catches something, her "guide" gets to net and release the fish for her. Of course, if she catches more than the rest of us, she brags about outfishing us. Never mind that we couldn't really fish since we were babysitting her the whole time. Not sure yet what this weekend is going to hold for me. With kids, it does get a little harder to do a lot of advance planning. We'll definitely get together soon and wet a line though.

Trent, Don't get frustrated with your lack of time to fish. What your doing with your kids is a heck of a lot more important than fishing! But relish every opportunity, to get out and fish, that you can. Before you can blink your little ones will be married off and gone and you'll have all the time in the world to chase our little scaly friends! And yes my wife gets tired of hearing about fishing to. But she still loves me!!! Think of it this way, by the time you are able to go fishing you'll know where Johns giant lives and he'll be at least 20# by then!!!! Krebsie

I wouldn't give up my moments with my girls (2 little ones and one grown up one) for anything. Fishing is great and all, but can't hold a candle to good times with the fam. I know these times are going to be fleeting, so have to make the most of them. I am looking forward to making some memories with my babies WHILE fishing, however.
