What a day we had. I got to the lake at 5:15am and nearly got carried off by mosquito's! Krebs got there shortly after I did and we fished a few minutes before everyone else got there. We tried a 3/4" musky/pike popper on a ten weight and had one hookup! That thing sounded like a light aircraft going by when Krebs casted it. I had the pleasure of fishing with two club members that I have never fished with before and we had a great time. Wayne52 and I have tried to get our schedules together before but it didn't happen until yesterday. He's a very interesting guy and I look forward to fishing with him again.
Wayne with an early morning bass on a popper.
A little later in the day on a popper.
This was my best fish of the day I believe.
Later in the day I got to fish with Jnbales and I paddled him around playing guide. I enjoyed talking to him and stalking fish but we didn't hook up with any leviathans for the fishing had slowed down at that point. Thanks again for the gift JN it means a lot.
Bob sold his lake but retained lifetime fishing rights and I thank him for arranging us coming up there. The two times I have fished here it has been great. There are some monster panfish and bass in that lake. As the sun came out in the afternoon you could catch pods of bass hitting top water. We would row like mad to get over to them and throw whatever you had tied on in front of them and most times it resulted in a hook up. It made me feel like I was in FL stalking Tarpon.
As if all this wasn't enough Krebs and I went down to Raccoon lake and night fished for white bass and crappie Saturday night. As I went to bed I figured out that I was up for 22.5 hours Saturday and fished a lot of it. Night fishing was really cool. As we motored back in the dark you could see lightning in the distance from an approaching storm. That was cool!
We had 6 poles in the water!
Say hi to Krebs.
A big thanks to everyone that came and took part. My favorite memory from the day was the razzing I got for my inflatable life preserver. Those that were there know what was said. Thanks again guys and see you on the water.
