OK! am I the last one to hear about the retention pond (technically not a lake) beside Menard's. Jay S and I fished it for about 2 hours last night, the only pic's I got were on my cell, which I"m sorry to say was made some where in the early bronze age. So down loading is out of the question. However we landed many fish, most were in the 1lb or less range, but a few ran into the 2lb + with one being in the 4lb + (very nice fish). The person who told me about this place showed me some pic's of large mouths looking in the upper 5lb range that he had taken on spinning gear. Fly fishing is a little tough as not all of the pond is conducive to a good back cast.(keep your rod tips up). Top water worked very well for both bluegill and bass but, the weird thing was that I switched to a reverse Krebs popper (tied sneaky Pete style) that I tied to imitate a mullet for saltwater........who knew bass love mullet? ? If you are going to give it a try there are some metal storage racks to the far left of the parking lot, park there, the path to the pond is about 20ft from the racks.

I have eyeballed that pond on trips to Menards. I'll have to stop and fish next time I get a chance. Thanks Barry.
