Who is interested in going? Dustin and I talked about a short float from the public access point just south of the Oakdale dam to a friend of Dustin's that lives on the Tippecanoe river. It's a 4.63 mile float trip. We did a similar float trip last Saturday from the private residence to State Road 18 and it took six hours to float and we were moving along. If we took our time it could easily take eight hours.
Personally I don't love the idea of putting the canoe in the lake and competing with the powerboats. It would be good practice though in deeper water techniques and using sink tip and fully sinking lines.
Dustin and I also talked about camping Friday night at the Tippecanoe River State park and floating the Tippy through the park. I like that idea most of all. Pike! Could we move the outing up there?
What are people doing next Saturday? Who is interested and who is not. Lets post in this thread what our intentions are.

The outting is for Oakdale Dam. I have had 1 person ask if they could meet at Oakdale and there may be more.
We are not putting in on the lake. We will be fishing below the dam. I am up for floating the Tippy from Oakdale.

Rick is right, we would be putting the canoes in from the public access south of the dam in the river, not on the lake. Friday night is shot for me. The almighty "honeydo" list just hit me. Saturday is still a possibility though. From my house to Winamac is about an hour and 30 min. drive. My house to the dam is 1 hour exactly, so I don't care either way. I know that the state park is beautiful, I'm a little worried about the number of leaves on the water up there though. It is heavily forested and more narrow...

So just float the tippy from Oakdale down to your friends place? That sound good to me. I'll bring the guacamole!

We can also try for the big Wipers, white bass and skip jacks below the dam before we head down the river. I'm thinking get there EARLY!!! oh dark 30 if I can make it...

I'm in Dustin. It's never too early to go fishing. We could meet at my house.

I'm planning on it. I had one email asking if he could meet at the dam. I will be leaving Meijer's at 7:30 for anyone that wants to meet there. Would anyone want to meet at Cracker Barrell at 6:00 for breakfast?

Dustin and I talked about being on the water to wade the tail waters before the sun comes up. Sunrise is 7:26 on Saturday.

Alright people here's our plan. Krebs, Ray, Dustin, my buddy Ryan and I are meeting at JJ roadhouse in Brookston for breakfast at 6am. After that we are heading for the dam to wade the tail waters. I don't know what time we will be starting the float trip but my cell phone number is in the members section. I made another batch of home made chips and guacamole. I will be bringing sandwich stuff for everyone and a special dessert that will be revealed stream side for those who attend.
