John there are many patterns after the crawdad, mud puppy, crayfish. Some are so real they look like they could crawl off the bench. One of my favorites is Dave's near nuff crawl. It's not a complicated pattern and seems to do well in our local waters. Some of the flies look great but are very stiff or ridged and don't preform well, yet seem to keep you at the vise for hours. Sometimes realistic is not functional. Great pic's PS Still haven't cleaned your ring I see.
