Names John. Just rediscovered fishing and bought a fly rod last month. Had the fortunate dumb luck to visit my sister while camping in Lake Placid NY and got to fly fish on the west fork of the Ausable river. What an experience! Just had a canoe handed down to me from a family member and have been out to Fairfield Lakes several times. No luck on the fly rod yet.

Hello John;
Welcome to TFF. Great bunch of people with lots of experience with a fly rod so don't be afraid to ask any questions you might have. Also, if you're not busy, you might join us at our monthly fly tying session at St. Andrew United Methodist Church this Thursday evening at 6 p.m. We'd love to meet you!

Welcome to the boards. As the board's administrator I will warn you that these folks are fishermen and women in every since of the word. Some of their fishy stories often leave you wondering. Also just because some one like Radioflyer has a picture of him with a fish it doesn't mean he actually caught it Seriously though welcome to the boards. If you ever have questions or concerns feel free to PM or meail me.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I am looking forward to meeting you and going fishing together. Here are some pictures from my trip to the Adirondacks. Red Tavern Rd between Duane Center and St Regis Falls. West branch of the Ausable river in the town of Wilmington NY. Ausable river close to Lake Placid. That water was really cold after a while! First time ever wading. Didn't catch anything. We took the canoe in by the town of Wilmington and had much better luck. Caught three rainbows and a brown. Trolled upstream with a wooly bugger and sight fished with dry flies downstream. One of the best fishing experiences I have ever had. Falls right next to the Hungry Trout fly shop. Nancy the owner was very helpful. Whiteface mountain in the background. I can't wait to go back!

Outstanding! Those mountains are calling my name.
Did you catch and release or did you have a little campfire fresh fish fry?

Awesome Pics John, thanks for posting them. Nothing like fresh trout by the fire. I'm very jealous...
