Thanks TFF members who decided to brave the wind and join in on the fun and fellowship. Special thanks to Tom Moran for providing the ultimate fishing venue and Riverman for the great lessons in flycasting.
Here is the short of what happened from my eyes and the eye of my camera lens.
Most of the crowd arrived around 8am and began to gear up and talk about the big fish that got away last week. I unloaded a chainsaw from my trunk and there were even bigger stories. (Sorry, you had to be there...) I tied on a fly that Jordan showed me how to tie on Thursday night fly-tying... too bad many missed that one... anyways after a few casts I hooked and landed a decent bass pictured below.
I was particularly excited because it proved that the new fly works! It's always nice to know that new flies work too.
Dad followed suit with a nice bass of his own, caught on a yellow popper. (I think)
Don Werden hooked a nice fish from his float tube. He was using a chartruese woolybugger.
Just before Riverman's casting clinic, Radio caught this little fighter. Radio was using a clouser deep minnow. You can see the true joy of this catch in his face!
After the clinic, I put Riverman's tips into practice and they paid off with this beauty caught from just behind the "Buzzards Nest".
Scott was with me and was kind enough to take this nice picture. Thank you!
Then, shortly after that, I was able to land this fish. The bass were going on the feed!
Dad quickly caught this on the next cast after giving me the camera back...
The next pictures are of a bass I caught and the fly that enticed all the bass I caught today. It is an amazing fly!
It was looked so good, even the babies wanted to devour it!
Radio, maybe you could help this little guy here. I think the camera failed to show his view of himself.
Then, dad landed another dandy by an old tree that had fallen into the water. Look at that grin!!
Near the end of our fishing time, I hooked and landed another fish that ate my fly three times before I managed to hook him and bring him to my hand.
Dad caught this bluegill on a bass fly that was almost too large for its mouth. Amazing how hunger they can be!
Jordan caught a beautiful golden bone, (carp), but unfortunately, he was on the otherside of the pond. I think his dad got a good picture of it. Maybe Jordan will post it later. I think it will make the 20 inch club!
Well, that was it. I know there are many other stories out there, but that's what I saw. It is always great to be fishing among friends and when the fish are biting, well, that's icing on the cake! Thanks again to Jordan for showing me that fly. That is my new favorite bass fly!
Till next time, see you on the water! Don't forget Terre Haute, Saturday May 30! Details on the calendar.
