Anybody want to take a guess as to when the streams will be fishable again?

All depends on Mother Nature. If we don't get any big rains it could be 2 weeks before the Wildcat is wadable again.

Just below the Oakdale dam is an incredible place to fish when the water is boiling over the castle area. If you can enter on the conservation side you can wade out to the rock garden and cast back to the parapets or the castle looking blocks of concrete just below the overflow of the dam. I have caught several really nice wipers there and countless white bass. Throw a white and chartreuse anything that's weighted about 3" long right at the white water just below the parapets and strip strip strip. Don't be afraid to even skip your fly right off the concrete. The turbulence creates some super oxygenated water and also the water flowing over the top creates some slack water right up against the concrete, that's where you'll find a lot of fish. Also if you dare and can cast that far, try throwing right up against the West concrete wall going to the turbines. Depending on what turbine is on the Big ones lay right there. But it will be a challenge just to keep your fly off the bottom. The current is ripping through there and stripping a fly back is more of an exercise than fishing. Expect to loose a lot of flies. But, NO GUTS NO GLORY! Be careful when fishing below the dam, especially if your wading. It's really hard walking and lots of places to make you dance like a ballerina. Have fun and make sure you send your pictures to the 20" club!!!!!!!!! Krebsie

I haven't been up to the dam since the flood from last year, but I heard that the castle, rocks, got washed out. Teach was up there last week, he should know. One other thing to know is there are signs posted along the west shoreline that keeps you from getting close to the dam. Be prepared to pay fines if caught, and of course as club members we should always try to be within the law.

I would not recommend going to the dam when the water is above 6 ft. Even then, it's really scary and the waves alone can knock you off your feet. BE CAREFUL! The castle area exists, but getting to it now is another matter altogether. I would not try this unless you have boat, or the water is very low. And boats are not allowed past the rock pile anymore. I believe there are still signs that say, No Boats beyond this point. Krebsie is right though, there are lots of fish up there, if you can get to them.

Huntress, Went to Morris tailwater on Saturday, I didn't catch anything. As soon as the water warms up a bit more, they should be in there! Unfortunately, I have class the next two Saturdays, and then I leave for Kentucky for Spring Break. No worries, though, I'll be fishing Kentucky lake for big crappie, bluegill and bass for 4 days. Should be fun. I'll be back in April, then I'm free for a while.
