Wow, February is almost over! YEAH! That means the First Thursday in March is next week... What are we going to tie? Suggestions are welcome. Let's try to keep it simple again for our new tiers. No classic Atlantic Salmon flies or anything crazy. The White Bass run is probably the nearest real fishing opportunity. Maybe some simple streamers?

Last month instead of doing wings we went over tails. There was just to much to try and cover for such a short time frame.
So I was thinking instead of trying to cover all the wings again, we would just go over specfic types of patterns. That way you can still learn and take something home at the end of the evening.
Since we still need to look at wings, I think we will do mayflies and wulffs. This will let us cover hackle tip wings and hair wings, upright and divided. Time permitting, we could also cover a parachute wing.

Sounds good to me. You're right, there just isn't enough time to cover everything. Keep it simple and build from there. Thanks Rick!

We had a great turn out tonight. I think there were 12 or 13 of us there. Rick did an incredible job teaching us how to tie different wing patterns on dry flies. Thanks Rick! For anyone who is interested in the little epoxy spoon flies that I brought, you can get the how to's at www.saltyfeather.com/ImageUploads/Events/080507072614.pdfor Google "black epoxy spoon fly" and the author is Salty feather Have fun Krebsie

Sorry I missed it. Just got back (Friday evening) from WV. My twin brother had an open heart surgery requiring 5 by-passes. All went well and am back home now, but very tired. Lots of miles in a few days.

Pat - Best wishes to your brother. Glad you're back.
Rick, Thanks again for your lessons and tips on wings. I learned a lot! The parachute wing was really fun to tie. I'm not intimidated anymore!

Thank you to all for your prayers/kind wishes for my brother. He has some pretty serious work ahead of him but I think he can do it. I've invited him to come out here before he starts back to work in a couple months. I told him that I have a bunch of friends that would help with his "rehab." With a fly rod, that is! It's good to be back home. Pat
