I was hoping to hear that the fishing heated up later in the day. Bummer that nobody seemed to be getting into them.
The pontoon was a hit, but will take some getting used to. The next test will be to try it out on moving water. I do know that I will not be challenging Dustin to a race. That man knows how to move his boat through the water.
Obviously, the pontoon didn't help catch more fish than anyone else, but I will say that I spent less time digging my flies out of the brush than if I had been fishing from shore.

Hey fellow flyfishers, Had a great time at the opener. Radio, the water only dropped 1 1/2 inches when you caught your biggin. I measured it!!!!
We had 22 sign the donut box/signup sheet. That's a great turn out. I stayed until around 2:30 and there was no activity at all. I think Dustin had the big catch of the day when he had the LONG LINE RELEASE.
Thanks to all you participated in the Fly Swap. Dustin's fly didn't work any better than mine did, but what a neat pattern. Every one who participated brought some neat stuff.
Most of all, thanks to all who came. I seen some faces I haven't seen in a while.

RF, Now I didn't mean to say you were a lier. Just the truth is sometimes, well said in different ways. Now that it has been confirmed that the lake did resend, only an inch and a half, it was that you must have exaggerated somewhat. Glad that Rick was able to help clear it up. Oh, as far as KARMA, I agree you should be leading the pack.

Well Fly Fishers, It was a beautiful day... Thanks to all who participated this year to make this year's opener the largest turnout ever! Many thanks to Phishphinder for bringing the doughnuts! I managed to eat a few before leaving. Thanks to all those who participated in the fly swap. Great Patterns Everyone! I'm anxious to try them later this year. I tried about 8 different flies, but nothing worked for me. I did have a fish on for a second, but I lost it. Dad always says you either have good weather or good fishing and very seldom have both. This was true for most of us. However, I talked to my father later on Saturday, and of course, HE CAUGHT THREE TROUT! He said they really started biting once he tied on the size 18 red brassie about 4 ft under an indicator. (It seems as though someone told me to tie on a brassie or a copper John.... ) He said that most people had left by the time he was really into the bite, around 1:00 or so. He took some pictures, so he says he has proof. His persistance paid the dividends. While we were telling stories, he was out there living the story. Dang, I'll have to hear that story for the next year! Truth is, My ole man is the best fisherman I know. Great Job Dad!

I want ot see those pixs. Not that it isn't true, Ray always seems to make the catch. I just need to know that there were trout in that lake.

It seems I should have taken my own advise, a brassie or copper john. But NOOOOOOOO, I had to be stubborn and try larger nymphs and streamers.
