I MOVED this from the Fly Swap Thread - I was hijacking my own thread! Now, THAT's lame!Just thinking outloud here - I've thought it might be fun for us to plan a summer fishing tournament - as long as the emphasis was on fun and not win at all costs. Pick a couple of partners (family, friends, whomever - might be a great way to introduce non-members to the sport/our club), fish wherever you choose, catch a fish, measure it, write it down, release it - take a "braggin' pic" of any BIG 'UN's to share with the group later. At the end of the day, say 6 p.m. or so, we could meet at a park (Wildcat Park?) and have a cook-out and see which team had the best day on the water - and the club bragging rights for the next year. As I said, I'm just thinking outloud here - I am NOT committing the club or officers to such an event, just a tidbit for "cabin fever" inspired discussion. Pat

Jere is a little more to add to it. How about we put names in a hat and have the names picked out. Every two names get to fish together. This is a way to meet and fish with different members.

I think this whole idea is great. The idea of a draw is a fantastic idea. All we need to do is pick a good weekend this summer. The earlier we plan, the more participation we will have. July would be a good month me. How about July 18th?

Did you check your calendars?? Let's try to get a date, so we can plan for this! We should definitely do something like this. I would be happy to form a committee to plan this whole thing and set it all up. Or we could just have dialog here on this forum for ideas and suggestions.

Does anybody have a good idea for where we could have this event? Do we have enough boat owners in the club to fish that way?

It is already on the Calendar for July 18th, so that is the date. I already had to schedule around this.
I would suggest fishing 8:00 to 4:00 anywhere you want as long as it is PUBLIC ACCESS. Use DNR size limits for the water you are fishing. Five fish limit, take a digitial picture and record the length of the fish. Meet at a place such as Fairfield and show the pics along with the lengths of each fish and total inches win the braggin wrights for the year.
We can discuss this more at the Board Meeting in a couple of weeks.

Just wanted to get all the things straight so I understand. Fish on July 18th from 8:00 am to 4:00pm. Does this mean to stop fishing at 4:00 or be at Fairfield at 4:00. If it is stop fishing at 4:00, then when would we need to be at Fairfield. Should have a time limit. Five fish limit, with total length measurement. Draw names and fish with that person on any legal PUBLIC ACCESS body of water. This means no private lakes or ponds. Meet at Fairfield Lakes with pixs and stories for ultimate bragging rights. We should draw names the meeting before the outing so the two can get together and make plans. Can't wait.
