We stopped into FlyMasters after the Expo yesterday. Lo and behold, what do mine very own eyes spy, but a set of Gary Krebs Popper Jigs adorning the rack.
Of the doodads and doohickies on my list, it was a little ways down in proportion to my budget, so a set did not come home with me yesterday. However, I just wanted to let you know that you could find a set there if you were looking.
(I have no economic interest in the success of Krebco or its subsidiaries, affiliates or parent corporations. Just passing the word along.)
I did pick up a Chris Helm DVD on stacking and spinning deer hair. After I've had a chance to watch it all the way through and make a mess in my own home, I would be more than happy to lend it out to anyone else who got the bug (pun intended) for tying deer hair flies from the Dec/Jan tying demos, but needs some more visual cues when trying it at home. (Thanks RF for the heads up on Chris Helm.)
After I got home from the Expo, I proceeded to put the DVD in and turn it on (much to my bride's chagrin). "I just want to watch a few minutes of it," I said. After I immediately fell asleep on top of her leg on the couch, she was too kind to wake me so was subjected to watching the video. I think by the end, she might have actually thought it was interesting. Not sure if it was interesting enough to get a bobbin in her hand, but time will tell.
FlyMasters seems to be a pretty nice shop. I had never been in there before, but I doubt it will be my last time. Apparently, on Saturdays, they have different tying classes. For $10, you can show up with your vice and a bobbin and all materials and instruction is provided. If anybody watches the schedule and sees an interesting class coming up, it might be fun to load up a car full of guys/gals and go down for an afternoon.
