I have heard intrest off and on regarding wet flies using material other than thread for the body. So I thought I would try my hand at a Light Cahill. What better way the spend St. Patricks Day than tying flies with a glass of fresh brewed Irish Stout. Materials: Hook - Size 10 - 16 wet/nymph. I used a size 10 Mustad 3906 here. Thread - Cream 140 denier Tail - Lemon Wood Duck Flank Fibers Body - Cream Rabbit Dubbing Hackle (throat) - Cream hen or rooster saddle / Here I am using a Chinese rooster cape in ginger Wing - Lemon Wood Duck Flank Fibers Crush barb and attach thread and wind back to the barb. Take a small pinch of flank fibers and tie in tail. The length is the same as the hook shank. Dub in the body. Tie in the throat using the ginger hackle. Then tie in the wing with more flank fibers. The tail length should be about mid-way the tail. Now lets do another. I have more beer to "dispose of".

Nice fly Rick I think I have all the materials here. I'm going to fish the South Platte tomorrow might just tie a few of these up in a 14 and give them a try. Also speaking of stout I had, last Friday, a Mike Stout at Odelle's Brewery. Very smooth and tasty, if you ever get the chance try one.
