I was in town this weekend and went to the grand opening sale. How dissappointing...no fly fishing items.. what are they thinking..a flyfishing organization in town..plus..no where else to buy supplies in town..and they don't carry it. I mentioned it strongly to a salesman. He said they have had about 6 guys a day complaining..and it will be mentioned to the. Manager. Good luck. I hope they get the message

I agree. That store is more a glorified gun shop. That's where the bucks are. If you visit Gander's website, they carry just enuf fly gear to be able to say they carry some fly gear. Not sure we'll see a change...but we can keep complaining til they do!

Or we can support our local fly shops and not an overpriced big box retailer. TFF members get a 20% discount at Wildcat Creek Outfitters. Flymasters has been very supportive of our club.

Down in Indianapolis, they redid a gander mountain with a lot more shoes and clothing than anything. Alos, they hardly carry any fly fishing gear. I,ve sirched for differant items, and all they carry in archery and firarms are hunting equitment. In order to get that discount at Wildcat creek, can I just be a member of this board, or do I have to pay a membership fee?

Funny thing...G.M. in amarillo tx has fly tying stuff... and there is no water to fish within 50 miles of amarillo.

I was one of those guys that complained. I mentioned the club and said that it used to have a fly tying night when Sportsman's was there. The gentleman told me that the store in Indy had fly tyers that did the same. He said he would pass on the info on our club. I believe the discount is for members only. I'm with pilot with supporting Wildcat and Flymasters as both support the club. It would be nice to have someplace closer to get anything for that last minute thing you forgot or with gas prices the inexpensive item that one would have to wait to get until a trip to Indy could be made. I'm sure the leadership of the club will be having talks with Gander. If there is a way for them to make a dollar I'm sure they will come around.

I was in GM this past Sunday and when I was asked if I was finding everything, my response was "I don't see any flyfishing". I then asked if they realized that there is a huge flyfishing communtiy in the area.
The response was we are seeing that and email's are being sent. The gentleman I was talking to said he was getting asked that about once an hour. He then stated that it would probably be just basics and wouldn't even fill one isle. I told him that probably wouldn't work becasue if customers couldn't get what they were looking for, they would stop coming. A whole isle minimum.
I know the GM at Washington Square used to rival FlyMasters until they did away with it.

I was in there opening weekend. My wife walked up to me as I was walking through the fishing section and asked me what was wrong. Must have been the look on my face. I go "this sucks". I guess I was loud enough to gain the attention of their fishing section guys. Same story, they'll have a "limited selection" of stuff. I'll stick with our friends at Wildcat and FlyMasters.
