Drove by the old Sportsman's Warehouse and seen some equipment in front. Stopped and looked at the building permit and Gander Mountain was listed as the tenet.

I heard rumors a couple of months ago that Gander Mountain was going in. It was in the paper a couple of weeks ago.
When they open, club members need to make our presence known. The tendency in recent years with Gander Mountain in Indiana at least, is to reduce the flyfishing gear.
At one time the Gander Mountain flyfishing "department" Indianapolis rivaled Fly Masters, now it is almost none existant.
After they open, maybe we can get the same arrangement we had with Sportsmans for our monthly fly tying.

I know they have monthly tying at the Greenwood and Castleton stores. The tying section at the Greenwood store has basically disappeared.

It's the same at the Castleton store. The flyfishing and tying sections were larger then the "conventional" fishing sections.
When the tying section was dropped down to approximatley 4 poorly stocked shelve sections I stopped going. Unless it was a last resort. It doesn't make sense to have tying if they are not going to offer the supplies.
But, maybe we can have some influence for the Lafayette store.

I went to Gander Mountain today in Terre Haute. Almost no fly fishing items for sale except prepackaged SA stuff. Plus they closed all live bait sales. So not many flys and no minnows or crickets! I asked what happen and the sales person said we have a new manager who dislikes fly fisherman any fisherman in general. Would you like to speak to him? I said OK. but I guess you(Manager) did not want anymore of the two grand I dropped there last year alone. He was an real A$$. But I did not make any good points when I left as I told him I was going to purchase a new Browning Shotgun today but with your attitude you may place the barrel up your A$$ as well and walked away!!!

Gander Mtn opens here Sept 15th. And you're right...fly fishing is not one of their priorities. Sad really...

Your right Dave. I can understand how Coop feels and if the manager is a A$$ then it will be hard, but managers do make the difference from place to place. If I was Coop I think that I would go up the chain of command and place a complaint and maybe we need to think of using a little more finesse in our fishing with the Lafayette manager. LOL

I did go back to find the manager is on borrowed time. It seems he also PO'd his over-site person. I talked to the head man in Terre Haute and said I would be at the next BOD meeting. Ole Gunny has purchased lots of Gander Mountain stock it seems LOL , The bottom line "Don't mess with the ole guy" Semper Fi ,Coop
