Has anyone ever vacationed in the Ozarks? I'm looking into a trip to the Buffalo River National Park area for the family this summer. We would like to do some hiking, fishing (of course) and maybe some canoeing.
Don't really want to camp, just don't have all the equipment anymore and the wife swore after riding out a bad thunderstorm in Rocky Mt National Park that our tent camping days were over. Might have had something to do with the fact that I made her stay in the tent with me since we were the only thing keeping it from blowing away.
So, we are probably looking for a cabin or something like that in the area. Also, any info on fishing guides or good fly fishing opportunities would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Sorry don't know about the Ozarks. But I read recently that the highest number of lightning strikes on people in National parks is Rocky Mountain National Park.................................Maybe your wife was on to something there.

Miles and Michelle Riley Riley's Station Outfitters www.rileysstation.com/ Good Friends for a lot of years now. They are located right at the confluence of the White and the Buffalo Rivers in Buffalo City AK. Just south of Mountain Home. They have cabins, boat rental ..... This is where Don W. Don C. and I had such good luck a couple years ago fishing for trout. We caught, a lot.

That's hysterical. I was just going to ask if anyone has fished northwestern Arkansas. We have to go to a family gathering, and will be spending most of our time at Devil's Den State Park. We will also be fishing most of the streams outside Fayetteville. I would love some feedback.......... By the way, if anyone is looking for a cool place to stay, there is a little town named Winslow. There is a B and B there, with all kinds of rooms, swimming, creeks, etc. It's a tiny berg, so do an online search for the name and contact info.

I fished the Little Red in Heber Springs back in January. It was an awesome experience, but it would have sucked without a drift boat...
