Sign up for the March 24th Willow Slough Ice Off trip. It is time to fish for pike. You'll need a 6-9 wt rod with 18"-24" steel leaders. This should be a fun time especially if we get on some of these aggressive toothy monsters. Sign up by responding to this thread. We need canoe owners so check your calendar and sign up. Bring your kayaks, pontoon boats, etc. We'll leave West Lafayette at 6:00 am.

Well, I've never been flyfishing for pike, but I'd like to try. Don't have a canoe, but I'd be glad to row. Tried to tie a pike fly tonight. If they do take cripples it's sure to work. Need an address or some directions via e-mail for departure point.
Any place local to get wire for a leader?
Think Kreb's poppers will work this time of year?

There is nothing like a day on the water, any water with fish in it.

I am going to try and make it. Dustin has my canoe but I will take my flatbottom boat. I will check with my brother and see if we can use his canoe.

I'm not sure if I will be able to go. If so I have a canoe but no way to haul it. If I don't go anyone that wants to come out by Rossville is welcome to borrow the canoe.

Looks like we have some real interest brewing for the trip. Wire leaders are probably available at thingy's. We'll leave from Menards in West Lafayette, which is located at Hwy 52 and Klondike Rd. We will meet in the parking lot at 6:00 am on Saturday, March 24th. We'll be on the water by 8:00 am our time but it will be 7:00 Willow Slough time.

But...... I heerd Northern Pike will jump in the boat to git a bea moth or meal worm. I would just keep them in the boat. Wouldn't use one on the hook!!!!!

A Resident Assistant friend of mine from Purdue, Wes, will be joining the club and coming on the Willow Slough trip with us too. Glad you are able to make it, Wes.

We are still planning on going to Willow Slough, depite the mildly rainy forecast. We are hoping to catch something out there (besides a cold). I, for one, will remain hopeful. It appears that we have the following willing to brave the elements: Dave Hosler, Andrew McCormick, Gary Overdorf, Wes Johnson, and Don Werden,. Ray Tabert will come if he is feeling better. So it looks like we have to transport two canoes and my kayak to accomodate the anglers. I'll touch base with folks tonight. See you at 6:00am on Saturday.

Cool video on the Go Pro! I liked it best on Vimeo where I could view it full screen.
Wish the bite had been on, but we had better weather than I thought we would for our casting practice!
Thanks again Don for getting it all together and to Dave for the ride and the casting tips.
