I have a Northern Indiana steelhead trip on the calendar for Saturday January 14th. Unfortunately I have to work but one other board member might take the lead on this trip. If you have any interest in going on the 14th please post a reply on this thread.
I also posted an alternate date for the following Saturday January 21st. My goal is to have at least one club fishing trip a month as a minimum for 2012.

Hi All, I am ready to head up to Northern Indiana on Saturday, January 14th if others are interested in going to the ditch. The weather is going to be about 27 degrees with snow flurries - perfect steelie weather! The fishing is an experience because the steelhead are very difficult to catch, though it is worth the time to try. I was thinking about leaving West Lafayette at 7am (6am central time) and arriving about 8am central time. Post your interest and we can coordinate meeting at my house and ride share or caravan up to Bass Pro Shop and the ditch parking lot. So if you can brave the cold weather, let's get some fishing time in!

Heck, Dave, I've been sick for 7 weeks and planning on getting sicker on Saturday. Reconsider and come join me... ha.

Gonna be heading down to FlyMasters Saturday. I'm not pushing it. It took a lot to get me to go to urgent care. Swallowing these horse pills isn't something I wanna be doing for more than 10 days.

I might just show up. I'm not sure where the ditch parking lot is though. Dave you're a weenie.

I won't meet you at your house. It's a little out of the way since I'm coming from Chicago Metro.

Phishingincident did pretty well yesterday. Hooked three and landed two. The one fish that got off was just as large as the one in the photo. We were using center pin rods so no credit for the 20" club. Fish are on the bottom and we had floats set between 13 and 15 feet deep. Fly fish accordingly if you want to get a shot at one.

Hey Jeremy (aka Fatliner), I heard from Ray Tabert today and we will be leaving my house in West Lafayette at 10:00 am (9am central) and be up at the Trail Creek parking area by 11:00 central time. Get on 94 E and take the Crisman Road (Hwy 249) exit heading toward Bass Pro Shop. Stay on Ameriplex Drive and go past the Bass Pro entrance. Follow Ameriplex Drive and you will see the dirt parking lot for Trail Creek on the right hand side of the road. John said it is very slippery and I only have one 45' length of 1/2" rope. If you have a nice length of rope for climbing down the slopes, it would be helpful. Hope to see you there.

I know that parking area. It's just that it's nowhere near Trail Creek. Trail Creek is over in Michigan City. Where you're talking about is between the confluence of the East Arm Little Calumet River and Salt Creek, and the confluence of the Little Cal with Burns Ditch.

He's not talking about trail creek he's talking about the ditch behind bass pro shop.

Well, now there is POSITIVE evidence that I don't know where the hell I live or where I fish. So, as it stands now only John and I are going to the Little Cal and Burns Ditch. We are leaving my house at 8:00am. We are gonna catch fish today. It's a nice crisp 21 degrees in Portage with snow flurries...hot d**n!

We did fish today and it was 17 degrees when we left the parking lot for the ditch. I felt one tug on the line today and that was it. It was pretty with all the snow and glad we went fishing but man was it cold! Better luck next Saturday!!
