HI Matthew, Glad to hear you can make it and that your mom and luke (using spinning gear) want to come along - sounds like you'll need another life preserver, not to mention a canoe. I am sure the club canoe is available though we will have to figure out how to transport it. Shouldn't be too big of a problem. Biggest problem right now is if conditions are good. Water is still pretty high and fast. I'll be posting more info on Thursday evening and sending out an email too. We may need to postpone to July 3rd if the water isn't safe this Saturday.

Yup, water's high...hope you can pull this off...

Hi Flyfishers, I am sad to report that the Tippy looks like it is still blown out forcing us to postpone the float trip. The USGS and National Weather Service reports that the river's height is 7.5 ft at Oakdale Dam and 4.79 ft at Hwy 18 with a discharge rate from Oakdale of 3,550 cubic feet per second. This makes for very difficult fishing in high, fast, rather murky water and certainly decreases the enjoyment of a leisurely float and the possibility of catching some smallies. Because of the potential danger the float is being postponed.
It is my hope that Sunday, July 3rd will be a possible date although it is supposed to rain Friday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and who knows what that will do to the river. I would like to suggest that we play it by ear and keep a watch on the conditions. When the river is safe we make some quick plans to float. If it looks good for the 3rd, determined by concensus, and we have enough spaces in canoes and experienced people who can help those less experienced, then we make haste to the river. If the river still isn't down to a safe reasonable level and speed well push this back until it is.
I will post again on the 1st or 2nd of July and report on conditions. Please post your comments too.

Hey everyone hate to be the stick in the mud, but personally I think that the trip planned for sat. needs to be rescheduled. Haven't seen the river but judging from the wabash and all the other standing water around, it cant be good. So, I'm bowing out for this trip. Sorry. Going south with family for the weekend instead. If we could reschedule it for a later date when the water is more favorable for fishing instead of rocket rafting, I'm in! Hope I haven't ruined anyones plans! If you decide to go ahead with the trip my canoe is available to any club member who wants to use it. Just come and get it.

Hi Fellow Fly Fishers< Looking at the weather coming this weekend and the number of people who will be unavailble due to the holiday, it is in our best interest to look toward the 10th as a possible float day. Let's hope the weather cooperates and the river is slow, smooth, and fishable! I'll keep you posted. Thanks, Don.

I get on my waders, put together my gear and wait patiently on the front step ( don,t really have one ) each day for you to come Troutking. I'm tired of crying myself to sleep each night. I guess I'll have to find someone new to look up to........................Wonder what Charlie Craven is doing this weekend? ;D Hope the weather holds for yous guys and gals on the float trip. P.S.
