This is a great tool John. Thanks for posting. Haven't tied my own leaders yet but getting the yearn to try it and the Leader Calc is a necessary tool. Are you tying your own?

I have been tying my own based on a saltwater recipe but I have no idea whats appropriate for where. I hope to have a better working knowledge of types and formulas. I've been reading a lot on line testing and knot strength. This all stems from me losing a tarpon of a lifetime to a bad knot last week. Fish was at least five feet long and well over a hundred pounds. He ate the fly and shook his head once and all I got back was a pigtail from the end of my class tippet.

Tragic my friend! Sorry to hear that. I've looked at the Calc to decide what size tippet spools to get. I have a hard time decifering the numbers/diameters and stuff as I'm 'Math Challenged'. Deciding whether to get a 'kit' from Maxima or Umpqua or just buy individual spools. I'll figure that out. Will tie Bass tippets mostly tho...
