Since every fisherman need proof off what they caught before other fisherman will believe a story, here are some pictures of my recent Minnesota trip.
I will be honest and say that I didn't Fly Fish the entire time, but we were out on the water about 8 hours a day from Sunday to Friday.
In other post I have posted what we brought back and where we were fishing, so I will not go into that here.
The above picture shows two bass that I caught before lunch on Tuesday of the trip. The one in my right hand was caught on a Big yellow Krebs Popper on my 7 wt rod. I honestly don't remember what I caught the other on. Mabye I got it on a minnow while fishing for crappie or a soft plastic nightcrawler.
These were caught Wednesday evening in the span of about two hours or so. Early that afternoon while fishing with my wife (Picture on the left) I caught 4 decent sized bass all around or above the 14 inch range. She was fishing the same bait as I was and nearly the same spots, but she didn't catch a one. Since she was not happy about this, i had to find a place where she could at least catch something. We had been bass fishing in a spot for about an hour and a half with little luck. I was hoping the the Krebs yellow popper would work again but it didn't. We also fished some soft rubber worms, but were only getting nibbles from little bluegill. So I tied a small greenish grubish looking fly to trail the popper. I started getting some bluegill. My wife switched to a minnow and a bobber and was fishing 18 inches deep in a weedbed. She pulled two nice sized crappie to the boat but was so excited she wasn't able to land them. So we both started fishing the same area and the pictures represent what we caught. At one point we were both reelling fish in at the same time and trying to net them, which proves difficult with only two people in the boat. For about an hour one of the two of us always were reelling in a fish or putting on new bait.
My Grandma and I went back the next morning and only got 4 large crappie, then they were gone except for a few small ones. The water temp did change a good bit between the two days.
My last fish of the week. After fishing all day Friday, my wife and freind insist on catching one more fish since we have a couple of bass left before limiting out. I decided that the sun was hot and i was tired so I started breaking down gear so we could load stuff for the trip home. They still hadn't caught anything, so I decided I would Krebs 9 wt and his snook fly one more try for Pike. i had fished it several times through out the week and I about had one, but i got excited and twitched the bait before it chompped down on it. That was the closest I got till I seen this fish nail the fly. I know Gary wanted a picture of the fly in the fishes mouth, but it came out while in the net.
I had a great time, but need a weeks rest from my vacation. Then i will be ready to get them again.
