For those of you that have been fishing the local creeks over the last month or so, how would you rate your success?
Our experience has been that fish are few and far between and hard-earned when they are caught.
We know they are in there, but are just trying to figure out why we aren't having more hookups. We are guessing it is a combination of weather, possibly higher and more stained water than normal this time of year, and maybe that new scar on Jupiter is causing some sort of cosmic event where the fish are off the bite.
We KNOW it isn't our fishing! The water we have been fishing has looked like ideal smallie territory, but they seem to have gone into hiding.
I can't really comment on lake fishing in the area. Maybe that is super hot, just wondering about you stream/creek fishermen.

I was on the Wildcat over the weekend and wasn't having much luck either. I talked to a couple other fishermen who said they have been doing a little better up stream near Mulberry. But even the bait guys are saying things are a bit eschewed this year.

This is probably my worst summer fishing in 5 years or so. I know I started slow because of my heart surgery, but man, I've been putting in the hours on the creeks since cleared and, as Trent says, we've worked for every fish we caught. I've only really had one decent day's fishing since May.
And, what is the deal with the heavily stained water -especially on the WC? Algae? Can that be? I mean this has been a cool summer? Could it be related to the very cool/rainy spring?
