Hello TFFers, Went camping with my wife for the first time this past weekend and intended to float the Tippecanoe river from the park to Vanmeter park. The water was up 4ft and was moving swiftly so I didn't want to take any chances with my wife and her dog so we just hiked. We arrived on Friday and had just enough time to pitch the tent and dining canopy and it started pouring and continued for about twelve hours. I thought we were going home early! The weather got better as Saturday progressed and I dropped a fly line in the water fowl pond at the park. I caught a new species of fish to me and I have no idea what it is. Could someone identify this leviathan. The foul weather was tempered by some good cooking on my part. I think my wife will go again but I should have made the cream brule.

Barry:
those are best slow roasted and smoked on a spit over an open flame.
John:
if you are seriously interested, email Doug Keller at the DNR dkeller@dnr.IN.gov with the pic and he should be able to identify it.

I'm with Barry: That tiny fish right there looks like a creek shiner. AKA: Bass Shiner, you can buy them at the local bait store, for $4.00 a dozen. Maybe you could sell them...

Sweet, a business opportunity! Retirement here I come. I actually caught one that was so small I didn't know he was there and I back casted him across the pond. It felt like a strange back cast and some kid said "Cool, did you see him throw that fish across the pond." Oops.

If you move up to some thing bigger than a size 20 hook that won't happen.
