I fished the Pere Marquette this past weekend (labor day) This fishing was great, there were a ton of people around, but when we got on some better holes that were holding fish we forgot about all the other boats. Sat and Mon were the 2 least busiest days, which is also when we had the best fishing. I think over the weekend i brought 8 or 9 fish to hand which is pretty good for salmon, half the fish hooked weren't landed Here are some pictures from my camera, most of them were taken on my fathers so when i get a chance to put em on my computer ill have to get em up here also..

Outstanding! That's what I'm talking about!!!
So, how do you fish for them? Techniques, flies, gear, etc? Strictly C&R?
I think it is awesome you get to do that with your dad. What great memories.

Trent, we use primarily fly gear, when its this early in the run we bring a plug rod with us though to put through the holes first, most violent and explosive hits imaginable!
Dustin, i am always in for fishing, i would be more than happy to show you guys around the creeks, the Joe, or any other rivers in SW MI, just ask we will set something up!
ALso id love to bring the boat down and float something around here, id like to see the wildcat? You can get a driftboat down it right?

You could get a drift boat down the Wildcat, but it would be tough finding an access point. Most of the access points on the wildcat are carry down. I don't know of any boat ramps, and most carry down access have stairs or steep banks. The Tippy would be the best place to float your drift boat. We are going tomorrow on the Tippy. Take a look at Smallmouth Bass Outing in Club News! I'm going!

I have always heard the Eel River is a great fishing river, but have never been there.
