Well, I suppose after months of nagging by Krebsie and others, I will share my story of the snook in this picture. JC and I went to Florida at the end of October for 2.5 days of spectacular scenery and the chance to catch a few tarpon, snook, ladyfish, spanish mackeral and jack crevalle. On the second day, after seeing some huge tarpon all around us and not eating and missing one that was just a baby at about 10 lbs, we switched our focus to snook. We motored about an hour down creeks and rivers to a small bay loaded with dead timber. JC spotted some baitfish near shore and I was lucky enough to cast my white muddler close to the activity and was immediately rewarded with a huge, smashing strike. I set the hook and the snook took off up the cut along the island around a dead tree and around the corner, ripping line from the deck of the boat. Fortunately, the line came off cleanly and I had the fish firmly to the reel. It fought hard and jumped all the way out of the water several times before turning and coming back to the boat. After a few more small runs, we had him. This fish was actually the largest fish of the year for me. I'm hooked on Florida, and I'm going back ASAP! Thanks JC for encouraging me to take this trip. May it be the start of a long, annual tradition.

Wow, that's awesome. I'll be down there in March, hitting Okeechobee and the Everglades. I only hope to have an amazing fish to show off too ;D

That was the fish of the year for us Teach. I'm so glad you came down for that trip. What an awesome year it has been. I'm so glad I joined this club and met you. I hope this becomes an annual tradition that we get to share with others. Merry Christmas my friend.
