We had such a great time this past weekend this is going to become a yearly event. We arrived Thursday around 5pm and set up camp. We had four sites right on the river. Thursday night while we were hanging out around the camp fire a salmon went berserk and jumped out of the water numerous right next to our camp site! It was so cool. If anyone got pictures of the campsite please post them.
Saturdays float trip started at 11am and lasted all day. I was so concerned about everyone's safety on this river and I was the one to drive that point home. Less than a mile after launching. Don, Tap and I hit a log that swung the stern of the canoe to the right into a boulder. The canoe filled up with water and almost got sucked under. Tap had the sense of mind to grab the only thing that wasn't strapped down, the fly rods! I destroyed the framework of BarryL's outriggers. New parts ordered this morning.
We saw lots of fish. Some fresh some not so fresh. I foul hooked this one in the tail and he was very lethargic. I was so excited to see my first salmon I picked up the rotten zombie and got a photo. It smelled very bad and I won't be picking up any of those again. I wanted people to see the size of the fish that run through this river.
We found a productive hole and parked all three boats there and fished it for a long time. Several people had hook ups but I think only one foul hooked carp was landed. I did hook up with a huge salmon that I got a few jumps out of but I didn't put enough pressure on him and he wrapped around a log and broke me off.
A great action shot of Phishingincident, his dad and Rstaight.
Tap was the man! He took charge of the cooking and did a wonderful job. Thanks again.
