Had to workandtake calculus over this summer, no AK, but had some good fishing this summer. Did a bit of Hex fishing this year, just one trip up to the AuSab, lots of bugs not many cooperating fish. Got into a couple nice fish though, and the brookie fishing during the day almost made the trip worth it in its self. Also did quite a bit of smallie fishing on relatively local waters. Bought a 12’ 5wt 2 hander and have swung for trout on the MO and smallies on the Joe, with great success at both. A 5wt two hander is a blast to cast and fight decent sized fish on. Spent some time in Northern Wisconsin, Hayward area, beautiful place to visit, great place to fish. For the past 2 years I have wanted to musky fish and finally got my chance, and of course I wanted one on the fly. A gear biter came with relative ease… I then pounded the lakes with my flys for the remainder of the trip, I had to get one. Sun up to sun down, I rose 9 fish in 4 days with only one commiter, smallest on figures, but a Ski none the less, it was a ton of fun and can say that im addicted. Lately have done a bit of fishing for summer run steel, with very little success, however the trout were cooperating, with fish like this who needs ratty skams… Jordan

Jordan; I'm hoping the summer calculus was successful. Looks like you got in SOME recreation anyway! Great pics! Pat

When you are as old as some of the guys and gals that post on here, I bet you won't remember a lick of that calculus class and every dime you earned at that job will have long since been spent, but I bet you remember that first muskie on the fly. Awesome!
I'd love to catch one - on anything - I'd be happy to take one on a length of steel cable strapped to a canoe paddle.

Nice Pics Jordan! Great job! Thank you for sharing your stories. Hmmm, a 12 ft 5 wt... That just sounds cool. Maybe I could build one? I bet it has about 37 line guides on it. Probably not a good rod for a novice to try to build.
Musky are beautiful fish.
