Realteacher showed me this fly in 2009 and it has been a proven producer. This fly was created by a guide in Michigan but I can't remember his name. Materials: Size 2 standard shank hook. I used a Mustad 3366. Copper flash Silver flash Gold flash Mallard flank feathers Step 1 Place hook in vice and lay a base coat of thread to the start of the bend. Take two strands of copper, two stands gold and two strands silver flash and tie in at end of thread base. I tie in all of the flash at on time with half of the flash towards the rear and half towards the front. After a few securing wraps I fold the flash towards the rear and wrap over the folded flash. This locks the flash in and prevents it from sliding off. Step 2 Tie in two mallard flank feathers so that one feather curves to the side and the other feather curves downward. Step 3 More flash! Take two strands of copper, gold and silver flash and tie in just ahead of the mallard you just tied in. Step 4 Palmer a mallard feather ahead of the flash you just tied in. Step 5 More flash! Take two strands of copper, gold and silver flash and tie in just ahead of the palmered mallard feather. Step 6 Palmer one last mallard feather to the eye of the hook and whip finish. Simple but very effective fly.
