Red Ass Soft Hackle Tiemco 200R size 14 Red thread Peacock herls Partridge Hackle This is the thread I use the most. Start your thread a quarter of the hook shank length away from the eye. Completed jam knot and some built up thread for butt section. A drop of head cement wouldn't hurt here. Four peacock herls tied in up to the start of the thread. A dubbing rope made by twisting the peacock herls around thread. You might also use some gold wire, not pictured here, to secure the peacock herls. Wrap forward to the start of your thread wraps. Secure with a half hitch. A partridge feather with the soft fluffy stuff removed. Tied in at the tip. Secure and trim tip before wrapping hackle. After wrapping hackle and a few securing wraps of thread. Cheap tool that keeps me from stabbing myself on the hook point. Whip finish and add a drop of head cement to threads. Go fish!

Great tying instructions. I have seen this tied with starling. You could also substitute guniea or a grizzly hen hackle.
