Here's a photo of a 24" steelhead I caught on April 15th on the Rifle River in Northeastern Lower MI. The fly was one tied by my guide that looked like a fish egg.

There's more to the story. We saw scores, maybe hundreds of steelheads this day and the guide and his client caught a 42 inch female the day before. The stream is not so large, so the back cast was limited. Had I been able to cast consistently the way the guide was instructing me to, I could have had at least 10. As it was, I had one other on, and also caught a puny 15 inche brownie. Also fell in the water twice trying to get in and out of the canoe we were using to float from one fishing spot to the next. The day was beautiful -- in fact, as the sun got high, the fish began to head for the brush along the shore.

Congratulations Wayne! I have yet to land a steelhead of any size, so my hat goes off to you!
