Moved to the area 3 years ago from the Region. I recently took a fly tying class at Wildcat Creek Outfitters and Mike told me about the Tippecanoe Fly Fishers, figured I'd drop in and say hi. I'm pretty new to fly fishing, I've had a rod forever, but only recently picked it up after reading some John Gierach books (and a friends insistence that I at least knock the dust off my fly rod). Been fishing since I could hold a rod, hope to get out on the creeks a lot more this upcoming year.

As the out going 2009 President of the Tippecanoe Fly Fishers I say WELCOME. Looking forward to seeing you at some of the meetings and activities.
Our next scheduled activity is on January 7th at St. Andrew United Methodist Church at 6:30. This a monthly fly tying that is done at the church. At this particular gathering we will be tying carp flies with a guest speaker.

Thanks guys. I'll look forward to the 7th. I spent this summer trying to figure out how to catch the carp in the Wildcat, so I'd love to see some carp patterns.

Welcome Dave.
I am the message board admin and if you have any problems with these guys let me know. If you show up on the 7th and pay dues we will give you the password to the members area.
On the 7th we will have a carp guide showing us the patterns he uses. In Feb. he will be at our Bi-monthly meeting to talk about techniques to use to fish for carp. A carp tournament is planned for the spring. exact date and rules are still up in the air.
Welcome to the boards.

Talked to some folks at work, there's a small chance one or two of them might be coming with me. Will the directions to the church be posted on the calendar? If so, I'll keep an eye out for them.

Hey Dave. I'm pretty sure google has the location right but it doesn't show the church on the satellite view. Pat could you verify this? Hope to see you there. There are some monster carp in the waters around Lafayette but I have never caught one. I think Krebs has caught one but he's been fishing for ever! maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=4703+n+50+w+47906&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=56.637293,135.263672&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=4703+N+50+W,+West+Lafayette,+Tippecanoe,+Indiana+47906&ll=40.485359,-86.914365&spn=0.013464,0.033023&t=h&z=16

Yep. That's it. If you are in West Lafayette, take N. Salisbury St. headed out towards Harrison High School. After Kalbera Road, N. Salisbury becomes N. 50. We're a mile or so past Kalbera Road on the right side of the road. You can't miss us, big sign and everything...
Once at the church, come in through main doors in the front, take the hallway to the RIGHT and follow it through double doors, turn left and take an immediate right, through double doors on right side of hall and you're there.

Dave where is the region? There is steelhead fishing right now two hours up in northern IN. It's tough fly rod fishing though.
