Dec 2009 will mark a year and a half of monthly fly tying gatherings. In that time members of the club have tied all sorts of flies.
What will it be this month?
Any suggestions? The Krebsie Christmas Bugger might help get us in to the Christmas season. Plus I know from expereince that you can catch alot of fish with it.
Thoughts?

Someone mentioned tying pink for breast cancer awareness for "Indiana on the Fly". This may be a good time to get started, since Jan. 9th is fast approaching. And I'm interested in just what everyone has in mind.

Dang, I'm gonna miss another fly tying event. Sorry fellas, I have to close on my new home in Lebanon. See ya at the Christmas Meeting! Hopefully, I will have time to tie a few cool flies for that. I think pink flies are always a good idea. Especially in the spring time...

I'm going to help Dustin move that night unless we move him Friday. I've missed the last few fly tying nights. Has the idea of two nights a month ever been tossed around?

Here is my thoughts JC.
I have a hard enough time trying to make it to one tying event let alone two different ones. I know the arguement goes like this. You have two dates to choose from instead of one and that will let more people make it. This might be true. But I argue that it spreads the small group too thin. It isn't like we have 20 people tying flies and we are running out of room.
I also know that from April though Sept. most of us would rather be fishing rather than tying. Maybe I am worng on this point, but I don't think so.
Meeting space and someone to organize and sort of be incharge also doubles when you have two seperate meeings.
Personally I think it is great what we are doing now. Like many things in life one has to make choices and can't be everyplace or do everything. If we would ever get over 20 tyers on a regular basis, then I would start thinking about making a second meeting time.
Just my thouhgts.
I am not up on my pink flies. Any suggestions?

JC,
I agree with Les, I can't add anything to it. Between the fly tying, board, and club meetings I am already commited to two nights per month for the club.
If someone wants to setup something a little more informal, by all means go ahead.
Les, regarding the pink flies. Tie anything you want but use pink materials. In some areas a sulpher dunn has a pink cast to it anyway.
I have some rabbit streamers and beadhead nymphs that I tied used pink and they are pretty effective.

Thanks for the input guys. I might just have to get together with someone and have an informal tying night.

John, bring your flytying stuff next Thursday and we can tie at my new place. I agree with Les and Rick. Two days a month would be tough. But, we can always have an impromptu saturday tying event. I will have a whole house to myself, so we could tie whenever. The only sacrifice is the 30 mile drive...

I was thinking about hosting a Saturday tying session In Feb. Krebs and I chatted about it the other day and I know I talked to some folks about it at the auction. I will be there Thursday to tie and will talk more about it then.

I have next Thursday marked on my calender (subject to change) My idea is pink not being one of the dominant colors that you would find in most tiers collections of materials, we bring what ever pink, near pink, and complimentary materials we have and share. This should give us some versatility. Also bring an idea or two for a pattern if you can.
FEED BACK anyone?

I have a few materials in pink for a nymph. I only have one spool of pink thread but white or cream should work.
