Anybody doing any tying lately?
I've recently gone back to the vice after a lengthy hiatus.
If you are tying, what are you working on?
I've been doing some simple trout flies and a couple of hopper patterns. The hoppers take me a long time, so I hope they produce.

I'm tying streamers right now getting ready for fall. I just finished some white hair head streamers that are featured on "The Smallmouth Anglers" web site. They are not that hard and a good way to get use to tying with deer hair. I need some one to show me how to post pics and links.

Barry-
are you going to be at the tying on Thursday. We can show you how to post pics then, if you like.

The last time I tyed was just before the family outting at Bob Lyons. I tyed some Spring Crappie Darter, Morman Girl (wet flys), Red Ass (soft hackles), Green Weenie, and some ants.
I caught a nice large mouth at the outting on a Spring Crappie Darter.
Sunday while fishing the Little Pigeon River in Pigeon Forge, I caught a small spotted bass and what has to be the biggest chub I have seen on a Red Ass.

I've been tying "Ray Charles" and "Family" Scuds, a vintage tie known as a "Squashed Beetle" (a vintage E.C. Powell wet fly), midges (Zebra & Miracle "Thread" nymphs) and some Czech Nymphs.
Need to do some BWO's & Drakes, and Pheasant Tails but may just wait and buy 'em out there - I KNOW I'll be buying the hoppers there unless Trent kicks his production up a tad! Trying to get ready for ID & MT next week.

I've been tying a few streamers here and there, nothing serious yet. I already have too many flies. I need to tie a few elk hair caddis in a size 12 for the Tippy. Caddis hatches are awesome! They bring out the big moon eye shad! I love those fish! Ask John!

That was really cool when all those moon eye were hitting top water around us. Your elk hair caddis flies were the only thing they would strike at.

Trent I got a reprieve! Forgot this was a pre holiday week (her classes are on Monday nights). So I will be at the tying meeting but I don't have a lap top so could some one bring one, it's driving me nuts not knowing how to post pic's and sites.

Let it be noted that Dustin said he has "too many flies" (is that possible) and I am the first responder to be willing to unload him of such an unbearable burden and free up some room in his boxes.
Barry, there is a computer in the room where we tie that should have internet access. I'm going to be in there tonight as well, so I'll figure out how to get online.

Too many flies? Is that like too much money?

Too many wives cost too much money.
I can't speak from experience, that's just what I heard or maybe it was in a country song, I can't remember.

Sure, you can never have TOO many, but when you have over 17 boxes of flies and they are all full and then you forget the flies you are carrying with you, it may be too many. I took about 10 boxes of flies with me on Saturday down the Wildcat and used a total of 4 flies. You just never know what they are going to want. I take one of the boyscout motos, "Always be Prepared." I definitely need a few more caddis flies... I only have one box full of those.
