Thank you, but I really, really enjoy showing off my flies.
Radio, Thank you for the wonderful cookies and soft brownies. My wife loved them! Pat, thank you for being our fantastic host. It was great to have everyone there last night. Club activities like this make it easy to drive 45 min. to attend. All of you make this such a fabulous organization.

Just got a sales email from Hills Discount Flies and they're posting new flies for this fall...one of which is the Crazy Daddy Rust, a streamer IDENTICAL to the rust/orange crayfish imitation Dustin taught us a month ago.
Dustin, call em up and demand royalties!!!!

Is nothing sacred?

That seems to happen alot. I'm beginning to realize that great minds think alike. All die-hard fishermen will create similar lures at one time or another. I'm just happy to share this secret before it was actually published. I steal patterns from catalogs and magazines all the time. Trent, nothing is sacred when it comes to catching fish! You really think people are joking when they say, "Give me some dynamite!"?

My comment was tongue in cheek for exactly the reasons you stated. We are all constantly ripping off patterns we like.
I have wondered what kind of royalties people get, if any, for flies that have their name associated with them and are sold commercially. Any ideas?

Trent, not sure anyone really gets royalties off a flie other than 'bragging rights' and for 99% of flyfishers that'd be enough of an honor. I doubt Bob Clouser gets anything other than book royalties. However, there HAVE been lawsuits over naming rights to flies. Those happen all the time.
The only exception might be that new 'Moffit' system but that's already being declared illegal by states who (and I agree) deem it 'snagging'.

Braggin' rights are more than enough. I'm with Trent, what is the Moffit system? Is this new?

Just visit Moffitangling.com or google moffit fly fishing and you'll get there. These guys run ads in most the flyfishing mags right now too.
If you search the big bulletin boards (FOAL, Flyfisherman.com) you'll find virtually all flyfishers don't like it and consider it just a way to make money by doing something so simple so differently. Reading where states are banning it already as snagging. See what you think and let me know.

Looks like the latest gimmick. I think I'll stick to hooking fish the old fashioned way, on flies with hooks. Thank you for informing us on this technique. I honestly had not heard of it until now.
