Ladies and Gentlemen. Saturday, April 18th is another Merit Badge day at Camp Cary, just like last spring. Of course I offered to teach FF merit badge again (I'm a sucker who can't say 'no'), and wanted to let you know that you're all invited to come help again.
Those who helped last year might be able to vouch for how good a time we had getting youngsters introduced to our passion.
I'll keep all informed and information coming as we proceed.
Carry on... rf

I penciled it in. What's the format? Just casting or actual fishing?

I'd love to help with the scouts. I hope that even though I have never been a boy or a scout, I can still help out!

The format goes something like this: 1) Intro to flyfishing 2) knots 3) flies 4) equipment 5) casting instruction a) overhead cast w/fore and backcast b) simple roll cast
If we have time and depending upon how many TFF folks I have and how many scouts we teach (2 classes) we tie a fly or two, usually a wollybugger and a elkhair caddis. Then move on to casting instruction and get all the boys hands on a rod and get them lawncasting. Our club will then work with them later in the spring/summer to do some actual fishing and earn the remainder of the badge. I'll post the requirements for the actual badge here later when I get a chance. The great thing is they feed us lunch!

Hey Radio,
April is still a ways off and my schedule seems to change at the drop of a hat,but pencil me in.
I had a blast last year regardless of how cold it was.

Radio Would like to extend an invitation, to finish the merit badges, at my pond again. Last spring was absolutely a blast, and the fish will be a bit bigger this year! Krebsie

Krebsie, you are too kind and thanks for the offer.
Les, can't guarantee it won't be hotdogs again, but it might be Chicago style hotdogs or Comisky park hotdogs or...oh, here we go again!!!

I would be willing to cook for our group if we would rather do that. I can make some mean chilli, gumbo, or whateve else we might want. I have a dining fly that we can totaly enclose and but some heat in if it is cold.
Just something to think about.
