I finally got to go fishing for the 2nd time this year. I went to Terre Haute to the newly stocked(Late April) Maple Ave Rec. area. Just off 41 in Northern Terre Haute. I landed and and released 4 of the 18" 0f the stocked 498 Rainbows. They only wanted to hit white Caddis like flies regardless of size. Great place to put in your Kayak. Must of the rainbows are trophy size and are staying near the edges on the North side.
My new Blacksmith shop has which I opened two months ago is doing very well. It sure was nice to get away and fish. The Trout were a bonus! We should have put this one on the clubs list. I hope you all are well. I keep thinking I will get up your way. Tightlines Ole COOP

Sounds like a nice day. It's unusual for trout in an impoundment to be hitting dry flies this time of year. The water is usually to warm and they head to deeper water. Of course, this as been a strange year.

Yes that is correct but a nursing home was built there and kept sinking until it was found to have four freshwater springs right under it. These springs now bubble up in into the lake/pond and keep it very cold even in really hot weather. So the Trout are thriving. The temps I tested were in the low 50's while nearby ponds were running in the high 70's. PS: two fellows received tickets this week for fishing the area with Corn. I'm guess that is what they were raised on at the hatchery. Ole COOP Sounds like a nice day. It's unusual for trout in an impoundment to be hitting dry flies this time of year.
