This has got to be one of the simplest and awesomest flies ever... and it's just an egg. I could have posted this in wet flies but this seemed good too. I tied four of these up tonight on size 10 mustad egg hooks and I thought they came out alright for the first time tying them. Has anyone ever used the egg flies for trout or steelhead? I hear that they LOOOOVVEEE them! Here are the four I tied Here is one for a little bit of scale (my dirty hand from work) And here is one for a little better scale I threw one in a sink full of water and it floated for about one second before crashing to the bottom (just like an egg!). Let me know what you guys think, Charlie Craven says they don't even have to be round, just orange. Check out his video on youtube of the egg; you'll be impressed!

I have caught several small to decent panfish on eggs, they love them!! Right around spawn, any freshwater fish will hit um hard. If you load them on a 2-4 weight rod, it gives great sport. I really love this fly, and so do the fish! During spring, this is my #1 go to fly.
