Good Evening- My wife and I have jumped into tying our own stuff. Where do you all get your stuff? We have been utilizing the net heavily. Any suggestions?

I use J. Stockard the most and get good service. They are in Kent Ct. I also use Mudhole down in FA. I'd give Stockard a try www.JSFLYFISHING.COM Most fly magazines have good adds of sellers. Lots to chose from. Be sure to let us see what you make . I use about 10 different ones, but like J. Stockard the best.

Cabela's and Bass Pro offer a good selection of fly tying materials. Since I work in Indy, I have been know to stop at Flymasters in Indy and Wildcat Creek Outfitters in Zionsville after work.
Also don't be afraid to think outside of the box. I have purchased a number of items at Hobby Lobby, WalMart, Joy Ann Fabrics, and even Lowe's.

Hi Jbehny, welcome to the forums. If you live in the Lafayette area FlyMasters in Indianapolis and Wildcat Creek Outfitters in Zionsville are your closest local fly shops. Wildcat Creek Outfitters offers a 20% discount on tying materials to paid members of Tippecanoe Fly Fishers that present a membership card. Talk to the owner Chad and tell him we sent you. TFF members also get up to a 40% discount on supplies through Mudhole.com. If you are in the Chicago area Chicago Fly Fishing Outfitters has an excellent shop. Bass Pro Shops in Portage and Cabela's in Hammond have fly tying supplies but the fly shops have a much better selection. I like online retailers for most tying supplies except hair, feathers and other natural materials. You never know what you're going to get if you can't inspect the package first. Our club has fly tying the first Thursday of every month, 6pm at St Andrews Church in West Lafayette. Come on out and introduce yourself. You can see whats going on in the club by checking out our calendar.

WELL.....................I found if you move to Colorado supplies are not as much of a problem as empty pockets. ..............But seriously all this advice is very good and don't forget to try the craft and hobby stores many have alternatives materials that will keep a little more change in your pockets. And it's kinda fun to experiment. Good to see new faces on the boards.
