Okay, what kind of fly boxes do you tote? I've been using Morell foam boxes...love them for their capacity and light weight. After recently getting wet I find I'm probably wanting waterproof boxes. Well, I got a couple and didn't realize how heavy they feel compared to what I've been carrying.
Any thoughts on your experiences with diff. fly boxes?

I like the little clear boxes myself, cant remember the name but there pretty proud of them. I started using stainless hooks on almost everything I tie for that purpose alone. They don't rust!!! If you take a dive,,,, so what,,, open the box when you get home and all your hard work hasn't gone up in rust! I know, I know, stainless hooks are a little more expensive but look at all the time you put into creating a fly, then it rusts and then it's just junk. I also started using small zip lock bags for my larger flies and that works great when your in a boat or you're just planning on taking a few particular flies with you in your vest. Never did like totin around a bunch of bulky stuff, always gets in my way. I have a hard enough time just trying to keep my feet off the fly line.

Ditto's on the feet and line thing! Radio I like the simple foam boxes that Bass pro sells under their brand "White River". Very light weight, closes with magnets that double as a fly holder (small flies) and floats if you drop it. And best of all their cheap. Every once in a while they put them on sale 2 for 10.99. They are not water proof but ride so high in the water that they rarely get wet inside. I'd be willing to trade a couple for that crummy ol SA GPX line you got ripped off for.

Small plano boxes and I do my best to dry them out afterwards. I do have some SA waterproof double sided boxes for little flies. The more I fish the less I want to carry. In fact I propose a one fly tournament!

I'm with Pilot...ONE FLY! Of course, I'll need lots of copies of my chosen fly as trees will eat about 4-6 in an afternoon...

I have a wooden flybox that I use when I go trout fishing up North. Why?, just because.
I do have several clear Flambeau boxes. I buy the foam refill and put a section inside the lid doubling the capacity.
I have one each for drys, nymphs, streamers, terrestials, clousers, dragon flies, and poppers just to name a few. Of course I don't carry them all at once but since I can never remember which vest pocket I put what in, all I have to do is look through the side.

Radio if you take Krebs advice and make all your flies on stainless steel hooks someone with a long tree trimer could follow you down the river and have a nice fly collection........... That wouldn't rust. ;D

I have an assortment of different boxes. I have found out of all the boxes I prefer the slotted foam ones. The SA ones are nice but Flambeau boxes with the vertical friction foam are the ones I like best. The new Umpqua boxes look good and I am thinking of getting one to hold some Midges. Then there is my Wychwood Vuefinder Competition Fly Box which holds up to 1000 flies. The fox boxes are nice but the slots will sometimes hold the shape of the hook and you can not go to a smaller hook in that slot.

Better yet Barryl Just leave em there till the next time you fish that spot and you don't need to carry a fly box at all. Just remember which limb you got hung up on! We could call it the "SPFB" Strategically Placed Fly Box. LOL

After our experience today on the Tippe, the only question is: Who would use anything other than Krebsie's popper?
