On Friday 5/27/2011 Jay S was out to Denver to visit his daughter. She set him up with a friend of hers who works, teaches and guides for Blue Quill Angler out of Evergreen, CO by the name of Cody Scott. I got to ride Jay's coat tails to a very good day of fishing.
We headed west out of Denver to Evergreen at 6 am to meet Cody. He wanted to fish Clear Creek by Idaho Springs but said it was not fishing that good the day before. We took a different tack and drove over to Cheeseman Canyon, the back way from Evergreen. This in it's self was a bit of an adventure as we twisted our way through the mountains past pristine lakes and small streams, to be suddenly startled by a 20 lb propane tank that seemingly dropped out of the sky to the road right in front of us. To the best of our knowledge it fell from a camper some where above us on the mountain..........undetured we pressed on as the signs said watch for falling rocks not propane!
We went through Cheeseman down to the meadow area known as the Deckers. At this point the South Platte slows and widens out. I had fished here before in January with little luck, the books claim "if you can catch trout here you can catch them anywhere" do to pressure and a bad fire about six years ago.
Well this is a testament to Cody's guide abilities as he took to old flat landers and put us on fish. We even caught a few.
Cody said he only guides by request these days so if you come out this way his tn# is 303-674-4700 I would recommend him highly.
