Well I had to take the wife to work after we drop her car off at the dealers for some work. After dropping her off I decided to do some fishing at Brown County State Park and Yellowwood State Forest. I started out at Strahl Lake. Fished the dam and got a couple Gills and Bass. Walked around the whole Lake and got a couple more.
Then I decided to hit Ogle Lake. The were a couple guys fishing from a john boat using Bobbers. I walked the side that could easily be fly fished. I got a few more gills and another bass. No pics of the gills.
After getting to the 2nd cove I decided to call it quits and go to Yellowwoos State Forest. I left the west Gate and SR 46 was back up for some reason. There where Fire trucks parked at side roads. They appeared to be in dress Uniforms for a parade. When I got to YSF Road there were a few sheriffs with lights going. Siad the bridge was out and Had to use another Rd. Well I finally got to YSF and Jackson creek. I started out on the north end of where trout are stocked with no luck. I hiked and walked the creek then back to car to move south a few times. I finally ended up parked next to the cemetery and made my way to the creek. Just south of the walking bridge I seen the first trout. I moved very slowly trying not to spook the trout and made a few cast. Then on the 4th or 5th cast he got site of my fly. Twitch, pause, witch, pause, twitch, Wham he hit I set hook and he is airborne. I finally get him landed after 3 leaps.
I went south a little more with out spotting any so I went North and spotted 2 more. Trying to move slow again with out spooking. Well I ended up spooking them after about the 3rd cast. I decided to leave them alone and walk the creek north. Went up to where I made my way south and did not see any more. Back to others to try again. Ended up spooking them again try o cast from the side to them. I thought how to cast to them with out spooking. I went up stream and into the rocks and barely into the water since I did not have on waders. Had to make 30 to 35 ft cast to them while crouching down. After 10 or so minutes I started casting and on the 5th cast bam, another hook up. A few more cast and I hooked up with the other one.
I Went back down stream and Only seen 1 other trout with 2 bass but it was time to go get the wife. After picking up here car and getting a bite to eat I hit a pond for some more action. They are hitting top water in the retentions ponds around my house.
It was a good way to end the day. I think I may head to Wilber Wright FWA to try for some more trout in the morning.
