Okay, so like I didn't got up to Niles with the club. I was in Valpo for 'family day' at the University but on Sunday, my bro-in-law took me on a three-hour tour of steelhead fishing access sights...Burns Ditch, Lil Cal, Trail Creek, Salt Creek, etc.
At one of several points on the Lil Cal, we walked down to the river and on the way passed a guy with two nice looking Steelies. He had no fishing gear but we complimented him on his catch...which he didn't understand as he didn't speak English.
At the river we ran into a young man (15-16 yrs old) fly fishing and looking for something. He finally asked us if we'd seen anyone leaving with two fish on a stringer and proceeded to descibe both Steelies to a T. Lo and behold we had passed the guy who stole this kid's two fish! Was he mad! And we were sympathetic...felt horrible for this guy.
When you fish up north, watch your catch!

Wish you could have been with us. I can't believe that guy stole the poor kids fish. Unbelievable. Did you guys see any fish besides the stolen ones?

We walked to most the access points and watched the water for fish but didn't see any. The kid we talked to said he saw a few but not many tho he managed to land two of them.
At Bass Pro the sign said they were hitting on purple egg-sucking leaches, which I had with me but, as I said, we didn't fish.

Sounds like you guys had a great time and I'm jealous. Had to do family stuff tho and that was worth it too!

Man that sucks. I hate when people steal things. Need to take along a .45 caliber lead shot weight if I fish that area.
